Greetings Tiger Family,

I am honored and excited to serve the Tiger Family as the proud principal of Sedalia Elementary School. With more than 20 years of experience in education, I firmly believe that every child has the ability and desire to learn. By working together with our families, staff, and community partners, we can ensure that every student reaches their fullest potential.

Our mission is to support the academic, social, and emotional development of every child while preparing them for future success. We accomplish this by building meaningful relationships, creating a welcoming and inclusive school culture, using student data to drive instructional decisions, and engaging students through high-quality, meaningful learning experiences. Student success is truly a shared responsibility, and it takes all of us working together to make a lasting difference.

I am a native of Wilmington, North Carolina, and a proud graduate of the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in Business Education, a master's degree in Reading Education, and a master's degree in School Administration. I am also the proud mother of two amazing young men, Vaughn and James, who inspire me each day to create a school environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Throughout my own educational journey from elementary school through high school, my school mascots have always been members of the "big cat" family, making it especially exciting to continue that tradition as part of the incredible Tiger Family. I bring energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine belief that kindness is the foundation of every strong relationship. I look forward to getting to know each of our students, families, and community members as we continue building a school where everyone feels welcome and connected.

As I reflect on my experiences as a classroom teacher, Coordinator of Character Development and Service-Learning, assistant principal, and now principal of Sedalia Elementary School, I am reminded of the words of Margaret Mead:

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Those words perfectly capture what I believe about education. Lasting success is achieved through the collective efforts of dedicated people working toward a common purpose. Our team includes students, families, caregivers, teachers, support staff, district leaders, and community partners, all working together to provide the very best opportunities for our children.

Together, we have much to celebrate. Since joining the Sedalia family, our school has moved from a low-performing designation to earning a C school performance grade, demonstrating the incredible dedication and resilience of our students and staff. We have also made significant gains in the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's Teacher Working Conditions Survey, reflecting a stronger school culture, increased collaboration, and a positive environment where both students and educators can flourish.

As we continue this journey, I remain committed to fostering a culture of high expectations, continuous growth, and joyful learning. Together, we will cultivate an exceptional educational experience where every child is challenged, supported, and inspired to succeed.
